In December 2009, a nationwide scientific conference entitled "Stage of Poland's preparations to the assumption of the Presidency in the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2011" was held at the Faculty of Political Sciences and Journalism of the Adam Mickiewicz University, which was organised by the Adam Mickiewicz University in cooperation with the Office of the Committee for European Integration.
The conference was addressed to the public administration and academic circles. It was the end result of nearly two-year scientific work of the Research Centre for European Integration at the Faculty of Political Sciences and Journalism of the AMU on issues related to presiding over the Council of the European Union. During the scientific research an emphasis was placed on the Polish Presidency in the second half of 2011 and analysis of Poland's preparations to the Presidency. During this time the Research Centre, which functions as part of the Faculty of Political Sciences and Journalism of the AMU, has organised one conference concerning this issue and two series of trainings for administration and academic staff on matters related to the Presidency in cooperation with the European Academy in Berlin.
The publication "Presidency of the state in the Council of the European Union - partners' experience and proposals for Poland", which is presented today, had its official promotion during the said conference.
